In June 2007, I stepped on the scales at a friend's house in Maine and found that I was at 207 lbs. I knew something had to be done. After talking with my niece about the boot camp she was going to, I decided I would give it a try. So, in July, the week of my 47th birthday, I began Austin Adventure Boot Camp. I ran my first mile in 10:23. After the first 3 weeks of camp, I was down to an 8:30 mile, and had already lost two pant sizes (from a 36 to a 34). I liked what was happening and joined the 2nd boot camp. After 6 weeks of camp, my mile was down to 8:00 minutes, I had lost 25 lbs & my pant size dropped to a 32. From September to December there was not a camp available for me, but I was now motivated to continue my success. So I continued to run and workout with various exercises that I had learned at boot camp. By the time boot camp started up in January '08, I had lost between 40 - 42 lbs and was now at a size 31 waist. My next boot camp was 4 weeks long. I ran my first mile in 7:34 and finished the camp with a 7:13 mile, 18.5% body fat, and now having to buy size 30 pants and shorts.

I am such a believer in this camp. I have not been to a McDonalds or a Wendy's since July; I am down to one Dr. Pepper a day, which is my morning caffeine, and if I decide to splurge during the day or on the weekends, I just go run a couple of miles to work it off. I am now in control of my body, and it has become fun to reach my goals, and break records I never thought possible.

I just finished my 4th boot camp. I am addicted. I have lost over 10 lbs and I have turned a lot of fat into muscle. I knocked over a minute off my mile time: 7:55 to 6:40. I have increased my push up count by over 25 reps: 23 to 51. The results are great. I am getting results that I know I would not get in a gym.
